Software, Marketing & Engaging with your Audience

Building software that solves a problem for yourself is relatively easy.Solving that problem for a wider audience and building a software business around it involves marketing.

Buying into outdated strategies, vested 3rd party interests, half truths, and getting too distracted by the ever growing variety of channels and technologies can damage your chances of success.

Let me share with you our experiences, both good and bad, with building software and marketing it.

Surf the collaborative application life cycle web with IBM Rational Jazz

Over the years, developing software has been compared to many familiar activities - an art, a science, even a manufacturing process.
What all of these comparisons miss is the social dimension: software is best developed by a team of people working together, reacting
and responding to each other in order to achieve the best outcome. Just like in music Jazz is an IBM initiative to transform software
delivery making it more collaborative, productive and transparent. Or in
one word: more jazzy.

More sales for nothing and your clicks for free

Assuming you already have a healthy number of targeted visitors to your website, most of whom leave without buying, why spend money on bringing in more traffic? If you're only converting a small percentage to sales, any external publicity will be throttled from the outset. This session will focus on how to stop burning and start turning visitors into sales.

Aloha Editor

Interfaces for the future of editing content.
How will we edit content in 2012?

Hundred Millions of users per day edit and produce content online. While internet usage changed to social media and clouded applications with a high user experience, the interfaces for editing content did not change substantially over the last 5 years. Different approaches in order to change that emerged. One of of these solutions is not seeing content as rich text but rather as semantically structured and linked information.

The Editor should be easily integrate-able into any application like Typo3, drupal, midgard or any other. To point that out we show how the open-source project Aloha Editor hides the technical complexity of semantics behind an easy to use interface. Drag and drop minimizes clicks and with HTML 5 under the hood a high compatibility to other application is guaranteed.
